Principal's Message

Dear Families,

I hope you have managed to keep warm over these past two weeks – the winter winds have certainly been chilly! Please ensure your children have their TRPS jackets and/or jumpers with them every day, and they are clearly labeled with their name.

NAPLAN

It is with great pride that we share our NAPLAN results with the community. These results are a culmination of years of hard work and dedication from the students, teachers, and, of course, families.

Both our Year 3 and Year 5 students performed above or well above comparison benchmarks—not just in relation to like schools and network schools, but also when compared with state-wide results - in EVERY measure. This is a HUGE celebration for our school community and once again demonstrates the effectiveness of our explicit instructional practices, how committed our exceptional teaching staff is, how hard work pays off for our students with the support of their families, and why we keep our expectations high – our students can clearly rise to the occasion!

Hot Lunches:

Where possible, we ask that students arrive at school with everything they need for the day, including their lunch. With more than 1,500 students across the school, the delivery of hot lunches and the retrieval of forgotten items throughout the day place significant demands on our administration team and can disrupt both office operations and classroom learning. Where possible, please send your child's lunch with them at the start of the day. If you are providing a hot lunch, we encourage you to pack it in a thermal container to keep it warm until lunchtime. We understand that, on occasion, circumstances may arise where a lunch needs to be dropped off, and we appreciate your support in keeping these occasions to a minimum. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

STEM Night

Next week, we celebrate our STEM program on Monday, 17th August, from 3:15 – 4:15 pm. All students are invited to the gym for an afternoon of hands- on learning and fun. There will be lots of exciting activities to explore, including Spheros, balloon people, invisible ink, electrical kits, and many more. You will have the chance to discover the exciting world of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) through interactive activities that will spark your curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Whether you love building, creating, investigating, or experimenting, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. We cannot wait to see you and your family there for a fantastic afternoon of learning and fun!

Book Week

Book Week is just around the corner, and we can't wait to celebrate the joy of reading across our school! Students are encouraged to start thinking about their favourite book character and begin planning their costume for our annual Book Week Dress-Up Day on Wednesday, 26th August. Whether it's a classic character, a modern favourite or someone from a much-loved series, we look forward to seeing our students bring their favourite stories to life. Book Week is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate books, imagination, and the love of reading. We encourage families to enjoy reading together at home and to start gathering those creative costume ideas!

More information about STEM night & Book Week activities can be found in this newsletter and Compass posts.

Enjoy your week
