Mathematics
In Mathematics, students in Years 3 and 4 have been busy exploring the concepts of perimeter and area. Using a range of hands-on activities and real-world applications, they have measured classroom objects, drawn scaled shapes, and calculated the total lengths and surface areas. These tasks have helped students develop a strong understanding of measurement and its practical uses, all while building their confidence with mathematical reasoning and problem-solving.
Literacy
In Reading, students have been strengthening their comprehension skills through targeted reading groups. Each group has been diving into a different novel, exploring themes, characters, and text structures while practising strategies such as summarising, making inferences, and predicting outcomes. These group discussions and activities have encouraged deeper thinking and fostered a love of reading across a variety of engaging texts.
Students have been putting the finishing touches on their research and information reports about countries of their choice. After investigating geography, culture, landmarks, and unique traditions, they have organised their findings into well-structured reports. This task has not only developed their research and note-taking skills but also allowed them to practise presenting information clearly and creatively, bringing their chosen country to life for their audience.
Inquiry
Students have been exploring the idea that everybody has their own customs, beliefs, values, and feelings. They are learning that culture is more than just food, festivals, or clothing; it is the shared beliefs and values of a group of people, and it shapes how individuals understand the world and their place in it. Through discussions, stories, and reflections, students have gained a deeper appreciation of cultural diversity and how it influences identity. Students have reflected on their own faith and the ways that religious beliefs and practices form an important part of culture. They considered how different faiths and traditions guide people in how they live, treat others, and connect with the world around them.
