Earth Day
On Earth Day, we took the opportunity to step outside and immerse ourselves in the natural world. To mark the occasion, we held a hands-on Maths lesson in the playground where students explored the environment to find Maths in action. From spotting geometric shapes in leaves and playground equipment to creating their own worded problems based on what they saw around them, students were challenged to make meaningful connections between Mathematics and the world outside the classroom. It was a wonderful way to combine learning with appreciation for our planet.
Public Speaking
We’ve also been practising our public speaking skills, with students taking on the challenge of speaking for one minute about their school holidays. This activity was a great way to build confidence and focus on key speaking skills such as using a loud, clear voice, maintaining eye contact, and speaking with expression. Just as importantly, the audience practised full body listening, showing respect and focus and offered thoughtful feedback on what the speaker did well and what could be even better next time. Every student spoke beautifully and should feel incredibly proud of the way they presented themselves.
