Spotlight on Learning

Damascus Community

Dear Families,

What a wonderful and busy week of learning it has been in Year 2. Students have settled back into routines beautifully and shown growing confidence across all learning areas. In Writing, they created more interesting sentences by using conjunctions such as if, when, before and after, while also remembering capital letters and full stops. In Reading, students explored different ways to spell the /or/, /ar/ and /er/ sounds and practised reading and spelling new words with increasing confidence. In Mathematics, they worked with three-digit numbers by representing them with place value, comparing and ordering them, and locating them on number lines. In Religious Education, students revisited Holy Week, learned about the resurrection of Jesus, and began exploring why Mary is important in our faith. Students also enjoyed learning Auslan signs and discussing trusted adults who help keep us safe, supported and ready to learn.
