Spotlight on Learning
Galilee Community
Welcome back to Term 2! We hope all our Foundation families enjoyed a happy, safe, and relaxing holiday break. It has been wonderful to see students return to school with smiling faces, ready to reconnect with friends and jump back into their learning routines. They’ve done a fantastic job revisiting our expectations of safety, respect, and learning.

Religious Education:
Next week in Religious Education, we will be learning about the Bible as a special book about God. We will also be learning how Jesus teaches us to share and care for others through the story of the Feeding of the 5000.

English:
Next week we are reading the text "Wombat Stew" by Marcia Vaughan. Wombat Stew is a playful and rhythmic story that engages young readers through repetition and participation. It highlights themes of teamwork and clever problem-solving, as the bush animals outsmart the dingo to save the wombat. The book also introduces elements of Australian bush culture in a fun and accessible way.
If you would like to read this with your child, please follow the link below.
During explicit phonics instruction, we will focus on the /y/ and /r/ sounds.
We introduce sounds based on the Little Learners Love Literacy book, ‘Milo’s Birthday Surprise’.

Mathematics:
Next week in Mathematics, students we will be learning to confidently work with numbers to 20 by counting forwards and backwards, counting collections, reading and writing numerals, and representing numbers using concrete materials.

Integrated Curriculum:
Next week in Integrated, students will be learning about Aboriginal Peoples and how they source food from nature. Students will explore how this reflects their deep connection to Country and the ways they care for and respect the land.

Today, students will be bringing home a sheet titled, 'The Country I am Connected To'. We encourage all families to read through the sheet and answer the questions together.
Please send your child's sheet back to school by the end of week 5.
Thank you for your ongoing support.

Auslan:
Next week in Auslan, students will be learning the signs: What do we have today?, Do we have English today?, Today we have art, performing arts and at school. They will learn how to sign different school subjects like maths, art, english.

Social & Emotional Learning:
