Junior School News

Science Week begins with a POP!

Science Week officially burst into action in the Junior School on Monday, as our Year 2 Wombats gathered on the front lawn for a classic Coke-and-Mentos eruption.

The dramatic fountain of fizz brought the wonder of science to life, offering students a fun, hands-on introduction to observation, experimentation and the excitement of discovery.

While the explosions were a clear crowd favourite, the real lesson for students was discovering how small changes can create big reactions. The class observed that the Zero Sugar Coke shot noticeably higher and faster, thanks to its lower surface tension, which lets carbon dioxide escape in a speedy rush.

What a spectacular start to Science Week! We can't wait to see more bright ideas, bold hypotheses and brilliant experiments unfold over the coming days.

Preps are 100 days brighter

Walking canes, grey wigs, cardigans and pearls were out in full force on Monday 6 August as our Prep students celebrated 100 days of school in true centenarian style.

The day was filled with playful dress-ups and engaging in 100-themed activities, including counting, crafting 100 Days Smarter crowns, beading Cheerio necklaces and decorating tasty cookies.

We are incredibly proud of our kind, compassionate and wonderfully wise-beyond-their-years Preps and all they have achieved this year. Here's to the next 100 days of learning, growth and discovery!

Wombats in the kitchen

Our Year 2 Wombats enjoyed a wonderfully hands-on cooking experience last Friday as they teamed up with the Year 11/12 Food, Cooking and Nutrition class.

Working side-by-side, students prepared a fresh batch of pikelets and fruit, which they then shared and enjoyed together. Brilliant work from everyone involved.
