From the Director of Junior School

Mrs Melissa Thirgood

Dear Families,

Last week we celebrated Catholic Education Week. The theme of this week was 'Let the love you have in your hearts be shown outwardly in your deeds'. This sentiment invites us to reflect on how our faith is expressed through our actions.

I proudly accompanied our Junior School Prefects to the Catholic Education Week Mass at St Mary’s Cathedral, where Archbishop Tony encouraged our students from across our Catholic Schools to re-engage with their lives by disengaging from technology. His homily was particularly timely, given the challenges many families face in establishing healthy boundaries around device use while nurturing children who demonstrate compassion, resilience, respect and responsibility in their daily interactions.

As we continue to reflect on this year's theme, we are reminded that it is through these everyday choices and actions that God's love is made visible in our school, our homes and our wider community.

  • Respond to mean behaviour
  • Protect their social power
  • Be assertive and have empathy skills
  • Understand the power of healthy friendships.

Lisa will then be returning to run a 1.5-hour parent seminar on 'Friendships and Mean Behaviour'. This seminar is for ALL our Junior School families and will be hosted in our Student Resource Centre (Library) from 5.30pm–7.00pm. We hope to see you there.

Health Education Years 3–6

We have been fortunate this year to have a teacher dedicated to teaching Health across our Junior School. In our Year 3–6 classes, students are exploring several important age-appropriate topics.

To view some of these focus areas, please visit the Choicez Media website via the link below. The website offers practical resources for parents and carers who may wish to continue these conversations at home.
