English
Over the past two weeks, students have continued their study of Yirra and Her Deadly Dog, Demon. They have been developing their sentence-level writing skills, focusing on the different types of sentences and using conjunctions to join ideas.
In writing, students have also been supported to compose a factual recount about the Australian Aboriginal Flag. They have explored the structure of a recount and drafted introductions and body paragraphs for their pieces.
In addition, students have continued to practise their reading fluency, handwriting, and spelling each day.
Mathematics
In mathematics, students have finalised their third unit on addition and subtraction. Throughout this unit, they strengthened their ability to apply a range of addition and subtraction strategies to solve worded problems, achieving great success in this area. This week, students are beginning a new unit on Data Investigation.
In addition, students have also continued to develop their number fluency through daily practice.
Creative Connections
As part of our Creative Connections lessons, students have been working through a rubric of tasks linked to our study of Yirra and Her Deadly Dog, Demon. Many students have chosen to create a diorama as one of their projects. We would greatly appreciate it if families could support their child by helping to collect the necessary materials (particularly boxes!). All construction will take place in class. The Grade 3 team greatly appreciates the ongoing support of our families.

13th November: SCHOOL CONCERT DAY! Rehearsal during the day and students to be dropped by parents at Costa hall at 5:00pm. Show starts at 6.00pm.
