North Lake Senior Campus students and staff were reminded of the importance of meaningfully connecting with others on September 17 for the school's R U OK? Day.

The campus was buzzing with activity - there was a petting zoo, a Headspace stall, face painting, chalk art, nail painting, pebble mandalas, Jenga, colouring in, henna tattooing, popcorn, toasties and donuts - each with an edible R U OK? sticker, written in one of the many languages spoken at NLSC. Thank you to all who helped organise the day, and to Year 12 student Rozina Dunn who took many of the excellent photos above.

The day came as a reminder that you don't need to be an expert to reach out - just a good friend and a great listener.

Use these four steps and have a conversation that could change a life:

  1. Ask R U OK?
  2. Listen
  3. Encourage action
  4. Check in
