KOORIE EMERGING LEADERS IN SCHOOLS WORKSHOP

A contingent of Yarning Circle students from Years 8, 9 and 10 attended the Koorie Emerging Leaders in Schools workshop at the Gippsland Tech School on Thursday, 18th April with Ms Kennedy and Mrs Gallagher. They were a part of the 29 student workshop who were invited to co-create their own educational experience and help shape what education will look like for First Nations students in schools in Victoria. Designed to encourage self-determination of First Nations students in Victorian schools, our delegation came away motivated by what they shared and learned. Jai was impressed by the support he will receive for his pathways from school, Naomi is inspired by having the space to make decisions about her own schooling and that of other First Nations students, Monika enjoyed getting together with other students like her and Ella is excited about what comes next from signing up as a Leader!
