VOLLEYBALL
SENIOR AND INTERMEDIATE VOLLEYBALL
What an action packed day from start to finish!
On Thursday 18th April, Volleyball for our Senior and Intermediates got off to a flying start in the first round with the Senior A and Senior B boys team going head to head in round 1.
It was one set a piece, with the B team working towards an upset, it took a lot of focus and teamwork for the A team to steal back the game and take out the first match.
From there, the Senior A boys ran out the day undefeated, with Coach Churchill on the sidelines providing words of encouragement to remain focussed on technique and strategy.
Whilst the Senior B team took out one win for the day, each game they played, they made their opposition work hard for the win.
Korumburra Senior Girls did a fantastic job in being competitive, despite being short on numbers. A positive attitude and resilience ran strong with the team winning their first match against Leongatha. Their opposition had the numbers in games two and three with the Senior girls being runners up.
Intermediate Girls demonstrated a uniformed approach to their game with Ms Kordus providing pearls of wisdom throughout the games. Their dedication to their training in the lead up to the day paid off with the team going undefeated for the day. Utilising the strengths within the team, backing each other up during play and clear communication was evident to anyone who was spectating throughout the day.
With two teams qualifying for the next round – we wish all the Intermediate Girls and Senior Boys A team the best of luck for Friday 3rd May in Morwell for the Gippsland Regional Tournament.
Thankyou to all players for their positive sportsmanship, cooperation and dedication on the day and to Ms Kordus and Mr Churchill for their support of the Intermediate and Senior teams.
YEAR 8 VOLLEYBALL
Our Year 8 Volleyball teams served up some incredible competition on 24th April as they competed against other local schools in our South Gippsland division. Digging deep to win their matches - our Year 8 boys came out on top and progress to the next round at Morwell on 3rd May. They displayed incredible teamwork and positive sportsmanship in every game, and through the support of their Sport Education coach, Mr Baker, students displayed control in the execution of their skills and their style of play.
With two Year 8 girls teams, the competitors of both teams were set to take it to their opponents in each match they played. Whilst both teams faced a combination of wins and loses, they maintained a focused approach to each point and showed incredible resilience and support of one another. Feedback was key within the team and as matches progressed, it was clear that students were taking that feedback onboard and modifying their approach.
Throughout the day, students were required to support matches by scoring or as a line judge. A huge shoutout to many of our Year 8 boys and girls, who performed this role repeatedly throughout the day.
A massive thankyou to the guidance and coaching of Ms Marrotta and Mr Baker who have coached the Year 8 Volleyballers in Sport Education and who coached and lead the teams on the day.
Good Luck Year 8 Boys on 3rd May!

Report written by Kiera Dixon Year 8
What a day! Students from Year 8 went to interschool sports today to represent the school with 2 teams of girls and 1 team of boys. They all had such an amazing day laughing and having some fun with each other, They were all supportive of each other and their peers around them from other schools. Big thanks to Ms Marotta and Mr Baker for giving up time to take these students to represent the school, and also to Mrs Lloyd for organizing the whole program and to take the time out of her way to make sure everyone had an enjoyable day with success.
