Year 3/4 News 

Literacy

Over the past couple of weeks, we have explored another mentor text to support our learning in literacy, A Beginner’s Guide to Choosing a Pet. Students have been identifying the genre, making predictions before, during, and after reading, and discussing the author’s purpose. Using this text as inspiration, students have begun creating their own persuasive pieces, focusing on what makes the perfect pet.

Numeracy

In Numeracy, we have begun learning about fractions. Students have developed an understanding that fractions represent equal parts of a whole. They have had the opportunity to recognise and represent common fractions, including 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/5, and 1/10.

Inquiry

This term, our Inquiry learning is focused on Earth and Space Science. Students are exploring the water cycle, as well as investigating rocks, soils, and minerals, and the impact humans have on these natural resources. Teachers have provided opportunities for students to observe and connect their learning to real-world experiences.
