Music Report – February 2026

Welcome Back!

Welcome back to all students at the College with what is shaping up to be a fabulous musical year.

Ensembles that we have running in the Secondary school so far this year are: Year 7/8 Band Program, Senior Band, Jazz Ensemble, Flute Ensemble, Clarinet Ensemble and of course we cannot forget the College musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. If a student is interested in joining one of these ensembles, please speak with Mrs Barry about how they can become a part of it.

Private Instrumental Music Program: Meet Our Team

We have a fantastic program at Christway that caters to students who wish to be part of the private instrumental music program. This includes private tuition for students from Prep to Year 12 and we have specialised instrumental music teachers for the following instruments:

  • Jeannie Kwan (Classical Piano)
  • Jeff Heath (Contemporary and Classical Piano)
  • Alyssa Allet (Guitar and Voice)
  • Mareshah De Kretzer (Voice)
  • Alessandra Vondaovich (Brass: Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn)
  • Michelle Cleland (Woodwind: Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Oboe, Bassoon)
  • Jerush Perera (Drums/Percussion)

We currently have over 60 students enrolled in instrumental lessons; however, there are still spots available. If you would like to sign your child up for lessons, please refer to the instrumental booklet, which contains all the information you need, including the fee structure.

Once the enrolment form is completed, please return it to the College office or send a digital copy through via email at music.admin@christway.vic.edu.au.

Please also note that if you wish to hire an instrument from the College, this option is available, and a separate form must be completed.

CSEN Music Showcase

On Monday 23 March and Tuesday 24 March (Week 9) we will be sending Senior Band students and the Year 8s to the CSEN Music Showcase. It is an exciting opportunity for our students to perform alongside other music students involved in CSEN. The Junior Band ensemble includes over 120 students - an exceptional opportunity for our small school and one that promises to be a wonderful event.

Primary Chapel Choir

The Primary Chapel Choir is being led by Mrs Natalie Cleary this year, and students rehearse on Wednesdays at lunchtime. This year, the choir is open to students in Grades 2–6 and will perform at chapel services as well as lead Primary students in worship once a fortnight. If a student is interested in joining the choir, please let Mrs Barry or Mrs Cleary know.
