Principal's Message 

What a fabulous fortnight at ENPS! There is always so much going on in Term Three and we have certainly hit the ground running yet again. I have absolutely loved spending time in classes this term. 

Over the past two weeks I have had the joy of planting grass heads with the Foundations last week and reading “Evie and Rhino” with the Year Fours this week in 4IW.  I’ve had fabulous conversations with the Foundation students, every day comparing the growth of our grass heads and explaining what is impacting how and why they are (or aren't) growing. While I was again delighted to be the recipient of two tokens from 4IW after reading with them yesterday. They awarded my tokens for the ENPS Learner Attributes of Curious and Resilient. Apparently I was very ‘curious’ with all of my wonderings and predictions from the text and also ‘resilient‘ after learning that I had missed some very critical information from an earlier chapter that caught me by surprise! 

I also had a special delivery this week of very passionate and persuasive letters from the Foundation classes desperately trying to convince me to allow them to get baby chickens for their classrooms! We are currently involved in some high level negotiations as they continue to demonstrate how caring and responsible they can (and will) be, while continuing to show me how knowledgeable they already are about chickens through their learning. 

As I was away at the end of last week, I was bitterly disappointed to miss the fabulous 100 Days of School on Friday for Foundation too. From all reports, it was the BEST DAY EVER! We did however trade video messages on the day which was super cute! A huge shout out to the Foundation team for all the efforts in making the day so magical for them all! 

Our Thursday lunches with our School Wide Positive Behaviour token lunch recipients looked a little different last week, with Mr Smith taking over my office to have lunch with Jake, Archer, Lana and Josh and their friends Lucy, Ethan, Ziana and Hrik! While yesterday I had a lovely lunch in the sunshine with Nevaan and his friend Ollie.

Principals' Day 

On behalf of our Assistant Principals; Alice, Alice and Connor, we sincerely thank everyone for making today such a special day for us celebrating and recognising Principals' Day today. We were told to hold on for a special assembly next Friday (as we had no assembly today). We truly have the best jobs in the world and are so blessed to work alongside our fabulous ENPS students, staff and families. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. It really means the world to us. 

Year Five and Year Three Swimming

It’s been a big two weeks for our Year Threes, participating in their two week intensive swimming program. The swimming program is partially funded by the Victorian Government, supporting students with water safety and swimming skills. The swimming program is a two week intensive format, running every day for the two weeks. Year Fives will begin their program in the last two weeks of this term. 

State Netball Championships 

What a fantastic experience it has been today also for our Year Five/Six mixed netball team competing for the second year at the State Netball Championships in Parkville. We can’t wait to hear how they went today! A huge shout out to Alice Stephens for coaching the team. 

Opinion Surveys

The Department of Education will later this month be releasing the 2026 Parent/Carer/Guardian Opinion Survey. This will be provided to all families in the coming weeks. The feedback from this survey is highly valued by us in terms of continuous improvement and future strategic directions. Earlier this year, our Year Four to Six students completed the Attitudes to School Survey. Later in the year, all staff will also have their say in our Staff Opinion Survey. All ENPS families will be contacted via email before the end of August to participate in the 2026 Parent/Carer/Guardian Opinion Survey. All surveys are confidential and anonymous, and provide us with incredibly rich insights and perspectives which we value enormously. They are also available in multiple languages! We thank you all in advance for your feedback.

2027 Planning

It is hard to believe that it is also the time of the year that we begin planning for the next year ahead! This week enrolment offers have been communicated with all successful 2027 Foundation students and their acceptances have been rolling in. All of our new Foundation students will receive a very special letter in the mail very soon as well! We love having our future students bring their acceptance slips into the office! Their excitement is certainly contagious! 

We ask that if you and your family are planning on leaving ENPS at the end of 2026, please let the school office know as soon as you are in a position to do so. (This excludes Year Six students.) Our 2027 class structure will be determined by our student numbers, so having a clear idea of our projected numbers will be integral to our planning. While we aim to maintain our current structure in 2027, numbers of students across the cohort do have a significant impact on our decisions moving forward.

As a school we are also continuing to review our school Digital Technologies strategy including our Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program. These reviews continue to align with the updates to the Department of Education Digital Learning policy and will impact the implementation of our digital technology curriculum across all year levels. At this stage we can already confirm that our BYOD program will only continue in Years Five and Six in 2027.

Thank you again to all for a wonderful couple of weeks at ENPS! While I had a few lovely days away last week with my family, it has been great to be back in my happy place again. I have to say I can’t wait for next Friday night's Trivia Night too! It is always such a fabulous event and loads of fun.
