Performing Arts

Hi Everyone!
This is the beginning of a new semester where classes swap from Visual Arts to Performing Arts or visa versa so we welcomed all Performing Arts students with a ‘Welcome to Dance’ lesson in the first week of term. All students signed their commitment to uphold the school values and be Safe, Kind and Respectful in Performing Arts.
Foundation
This term, Foundation students started their dance unit called ‘Our Bodies that Move’ and they learnt how to move safely within the dance space with different dance actions. So far, they have created a ‘Bubble Dance’, a ‘Balloon Dance’ as well as a ‘Push and Pull’ dance.
Year One and Two
Year One and Two students started Term Three with learning about dance safety and different dance actions (jumping, turning, skipping, galloping etc) to get ready for their Dance Maps unit. They have also designed their own dance maps which will help them to turn into budding choreographers! We can’t wait to see their creations!
Year Three and Four
This term, Year Three and Four students started their new dance unit called ‘Dances from Around the World’, starting with ‘The Melbourne Shuffle!’. They have enjoyed learning this energetic dance and will be assessed on it this week. Then, they will continue their journey to explore dance styles that come from all over the world.
Year Five and Six
Year Five and Six students started their dance unit called ‘Flash Mobs’. We look forward to spotting several dance routines being performed somewhere on the school grounds by the end of this term!
We can’t wait to see what amazing dance creations the students come up with this term!
