Confirmation Retreat

Our Year 6 students recently enjoyed a very special Confirmation Retreat Day at St Helena of the Holy Cross Parish. The retreat provided a wonderful opportunity for students to step away from their usual classroom routines and spend time reflecting on their upcoming Sacrament of Confirmation and what this important milestone means in their faith journey. 

Throughout the day, students participated in a range of meaningful and engaging activities. One of the highlights was decorating Confirmation candles, with students thoughtfully creating their own designs to represent their faith and the significance of Confirmation. Students also spent time writing letters to their Confirmation mentors, expressing their thoughts, gratitude and hopes as they prepare to take this next step in their faith. 

A strong focus of the retreat was our Confirmation Saints. Students reflected on the saints they have chosen, considering the qualities, values and actions that made these people inspirational examples of faith. We also explored the Gifts of the Holy Spirit – wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety and fear of the Lord. Students reflected on how these gifts can guide them in their everyday lives, helping them to make good choices, show courage, care for others and continue to grow in their relationship with God. 

The retreat was also a fantastic opportunity for the Year 6 students to work together, support one another and strengthen their sense of community. They approached the activities with enthusiasm, maturity and respect, making the day both enjoyable and meaningful. 

We are very proud of the way our Year 6 students participated in the retreat and look forward to supporting them as they continue their preparation for receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation.
