Celebrating Father’s Day
This week we were delighted to welcome our dads, grandfathers and special visitors to St Thomas the Apostle as we celebrated Father’s Day together.
In Scripture, we meet many different examples of fatherhood and loving care. We see Joseph, whose quiet faithfulness and protection surrounded Jesus as he grew; Jairus, who showed extraordinary love and determination as he sought help for his daughter; and the loving father in Jesus’ parable, who welcomed his son home with open arms.
These stories remind us that fatherhood and being a significant person in a child’s life can be expressed in so many ways, through protection, encouragement, forgiveness, patience, guidance and simply being there.
Father’s Day gives us an opportunity to give thanks for the dads, grandfathers, stepdads, uncles and significant men who love, encourage and accompany our children as they grow.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Father’s Day celebrations and helped make the occasion so special.
We pray all of our St Thomas fathers and father figures have a wonderful Father’s Day on Sunday.
