Spotlight on Learning
Dear Families,
A very big thank you to all of the wonderful Dads and Special People who joined us on Friday to spend some special time with our students. It was wonderful to see so many families come together and share in the excitement and joy of the morning. These special moments create lasting memories for our students and remind them of the important people who support, encourage and inspire them each day. We hope all of our Dads and Special People have a wonderful and restful day on Sunday.

In preparation for the upcoming District Lightning Premiership, our Year 6 students have been practising very hard and showing fantastic teamwork, determination and sportsmanship. They have been working on developing their skills and supporting one another as they prepare for the big day. The District Lightning Premiership will be held on Tuesday 8 September, and we wish our Year 6 students the very best as they represent our school!
Learning For Week 9:
Religious Education: In Religious Education, students will have specific turn-and-talk opportunities to encourage them to build on their dialogue and conversation skills. They will be encouraged to share their ideas, listen respectfully to others and respond thoughtfully to different perspectives. These opportunities will support students in developing confidence and engaging meaningfully in classroom discussions.

English: Next week in English, students will continue exploring our class novel, Can You See Me?, and develop their comprehension skills by reading and responding to queries about the text. In Writing, students will learn to write complex sentences beginning with subordinating conjunctions. They will also explore how to use appositives to add extra information and detail to their sentences.

Mathematics: In Mathematics, students will explore the features and properties of two-dimensional and three-dimensional objects, including pyramids and prisms. They will investigate concepts such as bases, cross-sections, parallel and perpendicular faces, and congruent shapes. Students will also learn how to identify and describe right prisms using their key features.
Performing Arts: In Performing Arts, students will explore how movement can be choreographed to music. They will practise creating and performing movements that match the rhythm and beat of different pieces of music. Students will develop their coordination, timing and confidence as they work creatively with movement.
Auslan: In Auslan, students will explore how Deaf communities around the world develop their own languages and cultural values. They will learn to identify cultural values within Deaf communities and develop their Auslan vocabulary for family members. Students will practise signs for family members including mum, dad, sister, brother, stepbrother and half-sister.
Social & Emotional Learning: In SEL, students will continue exploring how gender norms and stereotypes can influence people’s behaviours, choices and opportunities. They will develop strategies to challenge limiting stereotypes and promote respect, fairness and equality.
