Leading the Way in Year 6
What a huge and exciting term it has been for our Year 6s! From the moment we returned, students have been busy embracing all that comes with being leaders of the school. City camp was a definite highlight, with students showing independence, resilience and teamwork as they explored the city together. We have also had all students proudly represent our school at interschool sports, demonstrating great sportsmanship and effort.
In the classroom, it has been fantastic to see students engaging so thoughtfully in reading, particularly through our shared text Out of My Mind. This has supported rich discussions around the idea of community, both in our books and in our own lives, linking closely with our wellbeing focus. We have also loved welcoming some new faces into our Year 6 community, with students doing a wonderful job of making others feel included and supported.
In writing, students have been able to express their interests and skills through narrative stories, creating engaging and imaginative pieces. In maths, we have been focusing on working with decimals, with students building confidence in operating with and applying their understanding to a range of problems.
We are finishing off with some exciting events, including cross country and our Easter Hat parade on the final day of term. It has been a busy, rewarding and memorable term, and we are so proud of the way our Year 6 students have conducted themselves throughout it all.
Congratulations to all of our amazing Year 6 students. We can't wait to see what the rest of the year brings!
