Principal Report

Dear Families,

It’s been a busy and exciting start to the year here at Berwick Chase Primary School, with a whirlwind of activities and opportunities already filling our first term. Our students have certainly hit the ground running, embracing every experience with enthusiasm and a positive attitude.

Some of our Grade 5 and 6 students enjoyed a fantastic time at Somers School Camp, building independence, resilience and strong connections with their peers. We also proudly welcomed our newest members of the Berwick Chase community—our Preps—who have settled in beautifully and are already demonstrating a wonderful eagerness to learn.

Sport has been a highlight across the school, with students participating in inter-school sport, inter-school swimming, and our school cross country. It has been terrific to see such high levels of participation, teamwork and school spirit on display. Our Grade 6 students also took part in their City Camp experience, creating lasting memories while exploring all that Melbourne has to offer.

Academically, our Year 3 and 5 students completed NAPLAN. Despite some well-publicised system challenges, our students approached the assessments with maturity and persistence, and we are very proud of their efforts.

As always, we have taken time to celebrate what makes our community so special. Harmony Day was a wonderful opportunity to recognise and embrace the rich diversity within our school, and we finished the term on a high note with our colourful and creative Easter Hat Parade—always a favourite event for students and families alike.

We are incredibly proud of the way our students have approached the start of 2026. Their achievements, both in and out of the classroom, reflect the strong values of our school community.

As we head into the term break, I encourage all families to take the opportunity to rest, recharge and enjoy quality time together. Whether it’s catching up with friends, spending time with family, or simply slowing down, we hope it is a happy and refreshing break for all.

Please take care, stay safe, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back for another great term.

Warm regards,

Christ Short
