Team Spirit is Our Competitive Edge
After a successful day on the track for our House Athletics competition, the girls were eager to get stuck in again at the interschool event on Thursday, 22 May at Lakeside Stadium.
After promotion to Division 1 last year, the girls were apprehensive about the level of competition, but were ready to lace up and get going nonetheless. The day started with a bang and the hurdles heats, followed by the 100m, the distance events and finishing with everyone’s favourite, the relays. Alongside it ran a full program of field events, that saw many of our girls take on throwing and jumping events.
The Academy spirit was in full force throughout the day, with the girls supporting one another, cheering each other at the finish line and stepping up to fill in races where athletes withdrew. The girls stepped up their performances to match those of the Division and came home with an array of ribbons.
A special shout out to our Year 12 students Phoebe G, Amelia G, Allegra K and Aoife G who single handedly covered all of the senior events and even came home with some ribbons!
The final results were as follows:
We look forward to taking on Division 1 again next year!
