Principal's Update
Another couple of big weeks at WMPS!
EXCITING NEWS!!!
We are upgrading our basketball/netball courts thanks to all your fundraising efforts over the years! Following many hours of hard work from School Council, the Finance Subcommittee, School Council President (Jo Price), Principal, staff as well as the enormous fundraising efforts over the past year, we are pleased to announce that School Council have endorsed the major capital project for WMPS........the upgrade of the asphalt basketball courts to synthetic grass!! Amazing!! Thank you to all families for your help with fundraising and the many generous donations we have received. We expect construction to commence in late September with the courts being ready for action at the beginning of Term 4! Such a wonderful achievement for our school and we thank all the families and the hard work from staff and School Council to make this happen.
BOOK WEEK: To conclude our very successful Book Week - our Prep-Grade 3 students went on a walking excursion to the Wheelers Hill Library to see a play at the Library. Please see the Prep-Grade 2 page for details and photos.
Our Grade 4- 6 students were treated to an author visit!
The author was Ross Curnow and the book : Oscar vs The Grand Old Dude Named York.
Students were able to purchase the book and have it signed by Ross.
Ross read us the first chapter and we were all intrigued to see what happened next. We have a copy in the library which is available for borrowing.
He also spoke about how he became an author and the way a book gets published.
ATHLETICS CARNIVAL:
We had a great day for our Aths Carnival.
See the Community events page for more details and photos.
FATHER'S DAY BREAKFAST
Thanks to everyone who helped out on the morning! We had a fabulous turn out and the atmosphere was beautiful!
We made pancakes by the dozen for our Dads, special people and our students.
I enjoyed Father's Day with my 92 year old Dad! I hope everyone had a good weekend with their special people.
Qu. What is happening to our basketball courts?
Please write your answer down in the office and place in the box - the winner will be drawn at Assembly.
Take care and be kind,
Meredith
