In the Music Room
Last week the Year 1/2s were learning about Dynamics- where the volume of music gets louder or softer.
We learnt the fancy names for these terms... 'piano' - soft; 'forte' - loud; 'crescendo'- getting louder; and 'decrescendo' - getting softer.
Students took turns to be the conductor with a small group of students playing a variety of percussion instruments, showing with their arms how they wanted the music to be played... dynamics! Lots of fun!
In the Art Room
The Year 3-6 students have been learning about French artist, George Seurat, who invested the painting technique of pointillism. Small dots are painted very close together and if they are 2 primary colours, from a distance the viewer's eyes will mix the colours to see secondary colours instead... he was at least 100 years ahead of his time! This is how digital pictures are created with pixels of different colours.
George Seurat took 2 years to complete this painting above. We are inspired by his pointillism painting of the Eiffel Tower under construction in 1889 to complete our own pointillism paintings of Paris landmarks and athletes competing at the Olympic Games in 2024. Stay tuned for the students completed works!
