Secondary CSEN Swimming Championships

The CSEN swimming competition was a major success. It was the culmination of all our hard work we had put in with early morning training every Tuesday and Thursday starting many weeks in advance. It was a real struggle for many of us to drag ourselves out of bed, but the commitment paid off.
We were in division B this year, which meant we went up against some tough schools with lots of gifted students. Throughout the day, we fought hard and got lots of high placements. Personally, I swam in four events, Butterfly, Freestyle and both relays for my age group, in which we placed second and third in the division.
Thanks to everyone’s participation and effort, we came out as the winners of B division, for the first time in eighteen years! It was a great way for us year twelves, most of which have been dedicated swim team members since Year 7, to end our high-school swimming career. I beat both my personal records, my Freestyle one by a second and my Butterfly one by a whole 8 seconds, and I’m sure I wasn’t the only one to smash their PRs.
The only shame is that now we’ll graduate before we can participate in Division A again next year. I’d like to thank the staff for running the early morning swimming trainings and getting us sorted into our events on the day, especially Mrs Wan and Mr Simmons. Huge thanks to Chef Ange for cooking us those wonderful breakfasts every time after swimming. Thank you as well to the parents for supporting us all and driving us to training even at 6 am, and for the few who came to cheer for us on the day. Most importantly, thank you to all my teammates, who through a combined effort, we managed to take the title as champions of Division B.
