Westall Secondary School's Gala Day was a resounding success, thanks to the outstanding leadership and meticulous organisation of our senior sports teachers. Managing multiple teams across various sports, including soccer, volleyball, futsal, and basketball, is no easy feat, yet their expertise and dedication ensured the day ran seamlessly and safely.
From the early morning 8:30am start, to the final whistle of the last game, every detail was carefully planned and executed. The coaches worked tirelessly behind the scenes, ensuring each team was well-prepared, equipped, and motivated to perform at their best. Their ability to balance logistics, support players, and foster a spirit of sportsmanship and inclusiveness was awesome. Thank you for your commitment.
The Futsal Boys' team engaged in close competitions, showing grit and perseverance. The MVP, Layheang Choeng (11C), demonstrated exceptional skill and leadership on the court, making crucial plays that kept the team competitive. Rising Star Henry Pham (11D) impressed everyone with his agility and quick decision-making, proving to be a promising talent for the future.
For the Futsal Girls' team, this was a historic moment as they became the first girls' futsal team to represent Westall. MVP Youseara Heu (10C) displayed outstanding control and precision, while Rising Star Muqada Ahmadi (11E) showcased determination and energy, making a significant impact in her debut.
The Basketball Boys' team entered the competition with great anticipation, eager to test their skills against strong opponents. Meanwhile, the Basketball Girls' team also made history as the first to represent the school in this category. Mia Mendoza led by example with her strategic plays, while MVP Sumire Ishizuka stood out with her exceptional court awareness, scoring ability, and defensive prowess.
Intermediate Gala Day- Thursday 27th March. On this day we wish our boys baseball team and volleyball teams the very best as they compete at the Dandenong basketball centre and Farm Road baseball fields. This year our baseball team has been training for 7 sessions at lunchtime with Mr Kromlidis, who is the coach. This year we go in with 4 very good pitchers. Devante, Namatullah, Yulan and Sukhraj. This allows the pitchers to rest their arms after throwing fast balls for a whole game. There is a special rule to rest players.
WELC Basketball
Congratulations to our WELC girls’ basketball team for their fantastic win against the senior college girls with a close score of 8-6! Their determination and teamwork earned them a spot on the school team and represented Westall at GALA Day tournament this term.
