Thank you

A very big thank you to our community for the kindness shown to me last Friday for Principal’s Day. The cards, flowers, video and morning tea were absolutely wonderful and, as I shared assembly, I am incredibly grateful for the many thoughtful displays of appreciation.

One of the great privileges of being an Assistant Principal is seeing, every day, the many different people who contribute to making a school a strong and connected community.  SMPPS is certainly that, and I feel very fortunate to be part of it.  Thank you.

Koorie Morning Tea

Our Term 3 Koorie Morning Tea will be held this Friday from 9.30-10.30am.  With some gloomy weather forecast, we will gather in the staffroom.

These mornings provide an important opportunity for us to listen to and learn from our Koorie families and to continue strengthening the ways in which we create a culturally safe, inclusive and welcoming school for our Koorie students and families. Building genuine partnerships with families is an important part of this work, and these informal opportunities to connect, share perspectives and build relationships help us continue to move forward together.

Every is welcome. Simply sign in at the office when you arrive and we look forward to seeing you there.

Breakfast Club

Helen Shaw has been running our Breakfast Club since at least 2024, and the time has now come for her to pass the baton.  I would like to sincerely thank Helen for the time, organisation and care she has given to making Breakfast Club such a successful and valued part of our school.

One of the things I particularly appreciate about Breakfast Club at SMPPS is how normalised it has become.  It is simply a place where students can come together, have something to eat and connect with others before beginning their school day.  That sense of belonging and connection is exactly what we want for all of our students.

Breakfast Club is also looking for a few more volunteers to join the morning roster.  If you, or someone you know, would be interested in supporting this wonderful part of our school community, please email the school office with ‘Breakfast Club’ in the subtext line and we will make sure it is forwarded to the right person.

Thank you again to Helen, our current volunteers and everyone who helps make Breakfast Club possible.
