School Council Update - August 2026

SMPPS recently held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday 29 July. Thank you to the community members who attended and continue to support the work of School Council.

The AGM provided an opportunity to reflect on everything our school achieved throughout 2025. It was a wonderful reminder of what can be accomplished when our staff, families and wider community work together.

One of the most significant achievements was the transformation of our learning environment. The addition of walls, doors and air-conditioning has been truly life-changing, creating more comfortable, engaging and productive learning spaces for our students.

Our community also came together to celebrate creativity at the highly successful Art Show, showcasing the incredible talents of our students while providing families with the opportunity to connect and celebrate our school.

Throughout the year, our fundraising events demonstrated the generosity and spirit of the SMPPS community. Events including the Walkathon, Father's Day Breakfast and the Gala Fundraiser not only brought families together but also raised valuable funds that contributed towards the installation of air-conditioning across the school.

We are also pleased to report that South Melbourne Park Primary School finished the 2025 school year in a financially sustainable position. Careful financial management has ensured the school remains well placed to meet its ongoing commitments while continuing to invest in high-quality learning programs and resources that support every student.

We encourage families to read the school's Annual Report to learn more about the achievements and performance of our school over the past year.

Thank You to Our Volunteers

A huge thank you to everyone involved in the successful Second-Hand Uniform Shop at the beginning of Term 3. We are incredibly grateful to Mel Jones for establishing and running this fantastic initiative. We also warmly welcome Stephanie Drakford and Valerie Augustini, who have kindly taken over the coordination of the Uniform Shop.

We would also like to acknowledge Helen Shaw for her outstanding commitment to our Breakfast Club over the past few years. Helen's dedication has made a real difference to many students and families, and we sincerely thank her for her service.

We are currently seeking a new team of volunteers to continue this valuable program. If you are interested in helping, please speak with Ms Thompson.

Happy Principals Day – Friday 7 August

On behalf of the entire South Melbourne Park Primary School community, School Council would like to wish our wonderful Principal, Ms Arnold, and Assistant Principal, Ms Thompson, a very Happy Principals Day.

Principals Day is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the dedication, leadership and care they bring to our school every day. Their commitment helps create a welcoming, inspiring and supportive environment where every child has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.

Being a Principal is about so much more than managing a school. It involves making important decisions, supporting students, families and staff, solving challenges, celebrating successes and always keeping kids at the heart.

Thank you, Ms Arnold and Ms Thompson, for your passion, kindness and unwavering commitment to our school community. We are incredibly grateful for everything you do.
