Foundation, Grade 1 and 2 

Students have been exploring the artwork of French artist Henri Matisse to link in with French Day.  Students listened to the story 'Henri's Scissors' which is a biography about the life of Henri Matisse. Matisse's famous artwork 'The Snail'  was discussed and students looked at photos of snail shells and practised drawing spirals. Students used their scissor skills to cut coloured paper and create a spiral shape, based on the work by Matisse. 

Artwork is on display in the corridor between the school office and library.

Grades 3, 4, 5 and 6

Students have been exploring the artwork of French artist Henri Matisse to link in with French Day.  Students listened to the story 'Henri's Scissors' which is a biography about the life of Henri Matisse. Matisse's famous artwork 'The Sheaf' was discussed with the students. Using scissors, students were encouraged to move the paper as they opened and closed the scissors. This enable to the students to be able to 'draw with scissors'. Cutting out positive and negative shapes were shown to the students and they were encouraged to include these shapes in their artwork. 

Artwork is on display in the corridor near the library and Grade 5 and 6 classroom.
