The Importance of Specialist Education – Emerson School

Further to Emerson School’s documentary launch on 6 August, we are delighted to congratulate long-standing APF member and Principal of Emerson School, John Mooney, on this outstanding achievement.
The documentary, Unlocking the Potential: The Vital Role of Specialist Education, has now been released on YouTube and is quickly gaining global recognition. It has already won multiple awards at prestigious international film festivals, including Cannes and New York, with more honours continuing to flow.
This recognition is a tribute not only to the excellence of Emerson School, but also to John’s lifelong commitment to specialist education and advocacy for students with additional needs. His leadership has ensured that the voices and experiences of students, families, and educators are celebrated on an international stage.
We commend John’s vision and dedication and encourage members to view the documentary in celebration of the vital role of specialist education in our system.
