From the Principal

Dear Karoo PS Community, 

What a fantastic fortnight we have had at Karoo Primary School! It has been a busy, exciting and opportunity-filled time, with so many wonderful experiences for our students and our school community.

From the success of our first Karoo PS Performing Arts Soiree, where our Year 3, Year 4 and Noisecraft students shone as they shared their musical and performing arts talents, to Superhero Day, the State Schools Spectacular, Hoop time, our Fathers and Fellas Breakfast, Year 5/6 District Sport, Foundation Community Building Day, Year 6 Bingo Night, the Year 1 Science works excursion, the Melbourne City Football Club Year 5 excursion and Regional T-ball, there has certainly been plenty happening across our school!

Alongside all of these wonderful opportunities, our teachers and students have continued to engage in outstanding teaching and learning every day in our classrooms. It has been an absolute joy to see our students learning, growing, connecting and discovering new interests and passions.

With only one week remaining in Term 3, it is a wonderful time to pause and reflect on the many opportunities our students have had available to them throughout the term. I would like to commend all of our students who have embraced these opportunities and taken steps to learn more about themselves, their interests, their passions and their strengths.

Whether it has been participating in an extracurricular activity, performing on stage, representing our school in sport, or simply trying something new or challenging in the classroom, every time a student steps outside their comfort zone, they are building an important belief: “I can do something hard.”

It is through these experiences that our students develop tenacity, perseverance and self-belief - dispositions that will support them not only throughout their schooling, but throughout their lives.

Well done to all of our incredible Karoo PS students who have challenged themselves, tried something new and stepped outside their comfort zones. I hope you take a moment to reflect on what you have achieved and feel very proud of yourselves. You should be! 

Father's and Fellas Celebration

What a wonderful morning it was celebrating Father’s & Fella’s Day together! We were so delighted to see such a fantastic attendance, with so many families joining us for this special occasion!  It was fantastic to see so many dads, grandfathers, and special guests enjoying time with our students. From the delicious breakfast to activities and reading together to making scavenger hunts and outdoor games, the classrooms were buzzing with excitement and creativity.

The atmosphere was filled with warmth and connection, and we truly appreciate your involvement and the special memories created with our students.  It was truly a joy to see the smiles, laughter, and connections shared.

Having a positive male role model in a child’s life is so important. Whether a father, grandfather, uncle, older brother, or family friend, these special people help guide, encourage, and inspire our young ones as they grow. Their presence makes a lasting difference.   Therefore, it was sensational to see so many of our role models this morning!

A heartfelt thank you goes to our KPA and our staff for their incredible support in making this event such a success. Your efforts and commitment helped create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all.   Congratulations also to all our raffle winners!

A thank you to our KPA for organising and running our Father's Day stall for 2026.  From ordering the items, to organising the staff in Father's Day week to support our students to be able to select items to show their father or father figures how grateful they are to have them in their lives.  Your support is appreciated immensely.  A special thank you to Alison Thomason, Rhi Fogel, Jess Robic, Kara Fogel, Holly Gardner, Elaine Harris, Nicole Glancy, Zoe Gillespie, Serryn Bryant, Sarah Elliot, Lauren Byrdy for all of their amazing work to make our stall such a success!

Victorian State School Spectacular

Unbelievable! What a sensational job our Mass Dance and Mass Choir performers did when they took to the stage for both the matinee and evening performances at John Cain Arena on Saturday 29th August!

I thoroughly enjoyed watching the performances and seeing our students share their incredible talents with such confidence, enthusiasm and pride. It was wonderful to see how proud they were of themselves and of all the hard work they had put in to be part of such a special event. They represented Karoo Primary School so beautifully, and we couldn’t be prouder!

A very special thank you to Ms Gemma Wild and Ms Sarah Dobson (Dance), and Ms Tia Beagley and Ms Karla Markovic (Choir) for the countless rehearsals, organisation, time and energy they invested in preparing our students for the big show. Your dedication and commitment have been truly appreciated.

We would also like to sincerely thank all of our wonderful parents and families for their ongoing support, encouragement and commitment throughout this experience. Your support has played such an important part in helping our students be involved and shine on the big stage.

A huge congratulations to all of our amazing performers. What a fantastic achievement! We are incredibly proud of the way you represented Karoo Primary School!

Inclusion Advocacy Action Team

We are seeking interested members of our school community to join a Parent/Community Action Group working together under the philosophy of “Inclusion for All, Accessibility for All.”

The purpose of this group will be to reflect on our current practices, share ideas and perspectives, and work collaboratively to identify ways we can continue to strengthen inclusion and accessibility across our school.

We are looking for parents and community members who are passionate about creating a welcoming, inclusive and accessible environment for every member of our school community. The commitment would involve approximately 1–2 meetings per term.

Basketball Courts Upgrade

Only one more week until our basketball courts begin their exciting upgrade! 

We would like to extend a very warm thank you to our wonderful school community for the incredible support you have shown through our fundraising efforts. Your generosity, enthusiasm and ongoing support have helped make this exciting project possible, and we are so grateful to everyone who has contributed along the way.

The resurfacing of our basketball courts will take place during the upcoming school holidays. This will give the courts a fresh, new look and provide our students with an improved space to play, practise their skills and enjoy being active with their friends.

Our basketball courts are such an important part of our school grounds and are enjoyed by so many of our students each day. We are thrilled that, thanks to the support of our school community, we are able to invest in upgrading this space for our students to enjoy for years to come.

We can’t wait to see the transformation take place over the holidays and look forward to welcoming everyone back to school to enjoy our newly resurfaced and upgraded basketball courts!
