PE/Bike Education

PE
It’s going to be another fun and active term in PE!
Our senior students have been learning skipping skills, which we hope to continue using as part of our PE warm-ups in the future. As the term progresses, students will also begin exploring a range of ball sports including basketball, netball and soccer. At our Warburton East Campus, we are all keeping our fingers crossed for some dry Wednesdays so we can stay outside for our sessions. If anyone knows an anti-rain dance, we’d love to hear it!
Our junior students have continued developing their throwing and catching skills and are beginning to apply these in games. Warm-ups have been full of energy, with students enjoying movement to music and a fun version of the Hokey Pokey. The juniors will also begin learning skipping skills this term, which is sure to bring plenty of excitement and fun to PE lessons.
Bike Education
Bike Education has also been going really well across both campuses.
At Millgrove, our non-riders are making fantastic progress. Jack, Will and Abi are becoming more confident riding independently each week, and Declan is very close to doing the same. His balance has been excellent, and it’s exciting to see the growth in confidence from all students involved.
At Warburton East, students have continued building their riding skills, with a strong focus on emergency braking and bike control. Students have become very good at stopping quickly and safely when needed. They have also discovered that riding slowly while balancing can be trickier than expected, and we will continue working on these important skills throughout the term.
Bike Ed is really fun now. Mr Bruder is really nice and friendly. He helped me when I was sad because Will E. and Jack T. learn to ride a bike before me. I couldn't ride yet. With Mr Bruder's (and my) determination, I can now ride beautifully. When I rode for the first time, the Grade 5s came back from Ben’s Shed and they cheered for me. Now I am practising each week to be stronger so we can go on rides as a class.
