Senior School

As we reach the end of Term 1, we would like to congratulate our Year 11 and Year 12 students on their efforts and achievements across what has been a busy and productive start to the year.
The transition into senior studies brings with it a noticeable increase in workload, expectations and levels of independence. It has been extremely pleasing to see many students rise to these challenges, demonstrating resilience, organisation and commitment to their learning. The first term of senior school sets an important foundation for the year ahead, and students should be proud of the progress they have made so far.
For our Year 12 students, it is also important to recognise that they are already one-third of the way through their final year. Time moves quickly in Year 12, and we encourage students to reflect on their progress, set goals for Term 2 and continue building strong study habits.
Feedback, Communication and Conferences
A key focus moving forward is the importance of seeking feedback and maintaining strong communication with teachers. Students who actively engage with constructive feedback, ask questions and seek clarification are best positioned to continue improving their outcomes.
It was fantastic to see strong engagement in our Parent–Teacher–Student Conferences this term. These conversations provide valuable opportunities to reflect on progress, identify areas for growth and strengthen the support network around each student. Thank you to all families who participated.
Year 12 & Year 7 Buddy Program — End of Term Celebration
To recognise the positive relationships built through our Year 12 and Year 7 Buddy Program, students enjoyed an end-of-term celebration at BOUNCE. This was a wonderful opportunity to strengthen connections, celebrate achievements and continue building a strong sense of community across year levels. We commend our Year 12 students for their leadership and support of our newest students.
Help-Seeking and Student Supports
As workload increases throughout the year, we encourage students to continue accessing available supports, including:
- Homework Club
- Teacher support sessions
- Wellbeing supports
- Peer study opportunities - use of Senior Study Centre
Developing strong help-seeking behaviours is an important skill in senior school and beyond, and we encourage students to continue making use of these resources.
Using the Holidays Effectively
The upcoming break provides an important opportunity for students to rest, relax and recharge after a busy start to the year. At the same time, we encourage students to also maintain light revision, organise notes and prepare for the term ahead. Finding a healthy balance between rest and preparation will support students to return to Term 2 feeling refreshed and ready.
Upcoming Events and Important Dates
ANZAC Day Ceremony — Friday 24 April
Students will participate in our annual ANZAC Day ceremony to honour and reflect on the service and sacrifice of Australian and New Zealand servicemen and women. This is an important and respectful event within our school community.
Careers Day Expo — May 15
Students will have the opportunity to explore a wide range of post-school pathways including university, TAFE, apprenticeships and employment opportunities. This is particularly valuable for Year 11 and Year 12 students as they begin planning their future pathways.
End of Term 2 Practice Exams
Year 11 and Year 12 students will participate in practice exams later in Term 2. These provide an important opportunity to:
- Experience exam conditions
- Develop time management strategies
- Identify strengths and areas for improvement
- Build confidence ahead of mid-year and end-of-year assessments
Senior School Formal — Coming Up
We also look forward to the upcoming Senior School Formal, which is always a highlight of the senior school calendar. This event provides students with an opportunity to celebrate their year, connect with peers and create lasting memories. Thank-you to the student formal committee and senior school team for their efforts in planning this event so far, more info to come early term 2.
Thank you for your continued support throughout Term 1. We look forward to building on this strong start and supporting our senior students throughout the remainder of the year.
We wish all families a safe, restful and enjoyable break and look forward to welcoming students back for Term 2.
