Senior Students Inspired by Visit from Richmond FC

On 26 February, our Year 10, 11 and 12 students had the exciting opportunity to hear from the Richmond Institute about career pathways in the sports industry.

Richmond Institute is the education arm of the Richmond Football Club and a recognised leader in sports industry education. During the session, students explored a range of career options, including pathways into sports science as well as sports management for those interested in the business of sport.

The session was highly informative and inspiring, here’s what some of our students said after the visit:

“What I learned is that there are a lot of jobs in the sports industry. I was really interested in the advice about saying ‘yes’ to opportunities — it made me think about how many times I have said no.” - Saad

“I learned that when you finish the program, it makes it easier to get into university. I was interested in how many different pathways there are in the fitness industry, such as sports science, coaching and nutrition.” -Justin

“I was interested to hear that you didn’t support Richmond and were a Geelong supporter. Your advice about young people getting into programs early made me realise how accessible great opportunities can be. Thank you for your time — I hope to see you again soon.” - Irfan

“You taught me about this interesting program that students from our school could potentially do in the future. I liked how, after finishing the course, you have the option to get into university, and that the program focuses on passion and commitment, not just grades.” - Adam

“I really appreciated you speaking about time management because that is something I personally struggle with.” - John

“Something I learned was how many different careers there are in the sports industry. I was especially interested in hearing about your visits to countries like India.”— Masoud

“ One thing I learned from your presentation was not easily to give up your dream, fight more” - Son
