Year 7 – Bunsen Burner License

Our Year 7 students have successfully completed their Bunsen Burner License, markingan important milestone in their science education. Students learned how to safely set up, light, and operate a Bunsen burner, as well as identify different flame types and understand their uses. This experience helped build confidence, responsibility, and essential laboratory safety skills that will support students in all future practical science work.

Year 9 CATS – Thermal Energy

Year 9 students recently completed their Common Assessment Task (CATS) on Thermal Energy, where they demonstrated their understanding of heat transfer and energy movement. Students explored key concepts such as conduction, convection, and radiation through practical investigations and data analysis. This task strengthened their ability to apply scientific knowledge to real-world contexts and develop strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Year 10 – Flame Tests and Microscopes

Our Year 10 students have been engaged in exciting practical learning through flame tests and microscope investigations. In flame tests, students identified elements based on characteristic flame colours, linking atomic structure to light emission. Through microscope work, students developed skills in slide preparation, focusing techniques, and scientific observation. These practical experiences are building strong foundations for senior science studies and future pathways in STEM.
