Intercol Competition
Our annual intercollegiate competition between Mary Mackillop College and Loreto College will take place on Wednesday 20 August 4:00pm – 6:15pm at Loreto College. This event strengthens the shared community between our two catholic girl’s schools. We cannot wait to see the Loreto community come together in support of our teams, showcasing the Loreto spirit. We hope to see many of you there cheering our teams on.
Pink Round
On Saturday 2 August, School Sport Associations SAAS, SACSSGSA, and IGSSA united for a special PINK ROUND in support of Australians affected by breast cancer.
Players, officials, supervisors, and spectators proudly wore pink to raise awareness, spark important conversations around breast screening, and show support for the more than 20,000 women and men diagnosed with breast cancer in Australia each year.
It was fantastic to see so many of our families getting involved and embracing the pink spirit to support this important cause! 💗
Student Achievements
Congratulations to Grace C (Year 8) and Bronte P (Year 9) on their selection for the 15 Years and Under State Touch Football Team, a fantastic achievement! They will represent South Australia at the State Championships in Ballarat, Victoria, at the end of October. We wish them every success for this exciting opportunity.
In April this year Tilda P (Year 9) competed in the Under 16 Australian National Hockey Championships in Adelaide, where the South Australian team finished 7th out of 12 state teams. Following the championships, Tilda was selected for the South Australian School Sport Under 15 Hockey team. The team recently returned from a fantastic week of hockey in Canberra, where Tilda captained South Australia into the bronze medal match, ultimately finishing in a highly commendable 4th place. As a result of her outstanding performances throughout the week, Tilda has been selected for the Under 15 All-Australian team. Congratulations, Tilda!
We also congratulate Emily Miao, who proudly represented South Australia at the Badminton Yonex U15 Nationals in Launceston during the recent school holidays. Emily and the SA U15 team put in a fantastic performance, securing 4th place in the team event at this year’s national championships – a wonderful achievement!

Aerobics Preparation – Gold Coast 2025
Our junior school teams have been working hard in preparation for the FISAF National Championships on the Gold Coast at the end of August.
This week, Ms Woods and the coaches organised a special performance at Loreto for our junior and senior school teams. The teams were able to go through a full dress rehearsal in front of families and teachers. Each team also received judge’s feedback. Ned McHenry from media company Reel Talk is putting together a pump up video from the rehearsal.
Catholic Primary Schools Cross Country
Well done to all runners who competed in the Cross Country event last Wednesday. There were between 150 and 200 runners in each division, taking on a 2km course that snakes its way through the east parklands.
A number of our runners finished in the top 40 in their races and well done to Tatum Y who finished 3rd in her race, taking home a bronze medal. A special mention also to Sofia H who soldiered on and finished her race with one shoe after a wardrobe malfunction!

SAAS Cross Country Relay
Wednesday was a big day for some runners, with several students competing in the Catholic Schools event during the day then the SAAS Team Relay after school.
We had two teams or four competing in the relay, with each runner having to complete a 2km leg. Both our teams were outstanding:
- Marika, Bella, Evie and Tatum came 2nd
- Colette, Grace, Helen and Georgia finished 4th
Loreto Soccer
It’s been a strong start to the term for our soccer teams! Between our Year 3, Year 4 Blue, Year 4 Gold and Year 5/6 teams we are 8 wins from 8 matches.
There have been some close matches for our Year 5/6s, who beat St Ignatius 3-2 in Week 1 and then overcame Westminster in a thriller 2-1 last Friday. Well done to Amelia L who broke the 1-1 deadlock late in the second half!
Ms Edwards has organised some new soccer goals in the junior school play area. It’s been terrific to see some spirited recess and lunchtime matches – 2 vs 2 and 3 vs 3 games are a great way for players to develop their skills.
SAPSASA Soccer
Well done to Grace-Marie H who represented the East Adelaide SAPSASA district at the State Carnival last week. Teams from all over South Australia were competing in the carnival at Gepps Cross. The East Adelaide team had a great week, finishing in 2nd place with 6 wins from their 8 matches.
AFLW
Our Year 4/5/6 football team started the term with a big win over St Ignatius, went down in a thriller to Pembroke the next week and then were given a football lesson by an impressive Scotch team last Tuesday. Some of our Year 4 and 5 players have been competing well against bigger opponents and it has been great to see our teamwork grow.
Well done, Ella C who kicked her first goal on Tuesday!
