Boarding Life

Wellbeing Week at the Loreto Boarding House

Wellbeing Week at the Loreto Boarding House was a two week long celebration, thoughtfully organised by our Deputy Director, Annabella Pettinau, alongside our Head Boarder, Alice Murphy, and Deputy Head Boarder, Sadie Polkinghorne.

Throughout the week, boarders enjoyed a series of themed evenings that brought both fun and connection to the house. Highlights included a special dessert night, a pampering session complete with face masks, and uplifting affirmations on the whiteboard. The girls also embraced the outdoors with a walk up Mt Osmond, enjoyed a cosy Friday movie night, gathered for a warm and lively bonfire evening, and took an energising trip to Cycle Bar.

The week also featured a wellbeing workshop run by Nurse Alice and our College Counsellor, Treesa Parrish, offering valuable tools and strategies to support mental and emotional health.

While Wellbeing Week shines a spotlight on these activities, the care and support of our boarders is at the heart of our daily life in the house. Just as parents prioritise the wellbeing of their children, our  boarding staff place the welfare of each boarder first and foremost. We work to ensure that every student feels a strong sense of connection, both with peers and staff, and experiences the genuine care that underpins boarding life. This is achieved through regular pastoral check-ins, open communication with parents, and close collaboration with key College staff, including our Nurse, Counsellor, and Leaders of Student Wellbeing and Academic Care. Together, we maintain a continuous cycle of care, ensuring each boarder thrives academically, socially, and emotionally.

Wellbeing Week may have been two weeks full of special events, but in the Loreto Boarding House, wellbeing is our core business, every single day.
