Wellbeing

Leanne Williams - Assistant Principal

Dear Parents/Carers,

Thank you for taking the time to complete the Term 1 Safe, Valued & Respected Survey. It is incredibly encouraging to see that our ongoing commitment to making Elsternwick Primary School the best it can be is recognised, and that our partnership with the community continues to drive meaningful improvements.

Key Results:

  • 93.3% of respondents believe EPS provides an environment where their child feels safe and welcome.
  • 93.3% believe that EPS welcomes ideas from people with different views, opinions, and experiences.
  • 91.1% feel that feedback is valued and taken seriously.
  • 93.4% believe that questions or concerns are responded to.
  • 93.3% believe that EPS is a respectful school.
  • 95.6% feel there are opportunities to communicate and connect with the school.

These results reflect our collective efforts to create a school environment where every student and family feels safe, valued, and respected. While we are pleased with these outcomes, we remain committed to continuous improvement.

Bring Your Own Device review (BYOD)

As part of our ongoing commitment to listening and acting on feedback, we have established a Parent/Carer Think Tank to review the school’s Digital Learning Policy (Internet, Social Media, and Digital Devices).

This group will:

  • Explore all possible options regarding the use of devices at school.
  • Identify obstacles and potential solutions to ensure the best outcomes for students.
  • Contribute to shaping the school’s approach to digital learning.

We will keep the community informed of the outcomes of these discussions and any changes moving forward.

Child Safety

During Term 1’s curriculum day, all staff unpacked the Child Safe Standards creating a shared understanding of their importance and implementation across the school.

Also, in line with Child Safe Standard 1, please see below details of our Koorie Engagement Support Officer, Steph Briggs.

Supervision arrangements before and after school

Student safety at EPS is our highest priority and the safe and appropriate supervision of students is an important element of our duty of care to students. Part of this duty is ensuring parents and students are aware of our student supervision arrangements before and after school.

Before school: School grounds are supervised from 8:45am

After school: School grounds are supervised 3:30pm to 3:45pm

Students on school grounds outside these times will not be supervised (unless they are attending a before or after school care program or supervised extracurricular activity).

Parents/carers are requested to ensure that students do not attend school outside of these supervised times unless they are attending before or after school care, or a pre-arranged supervised activity (i.e. sports practice).

Families are encouraged to contact the front office on 8534 6100 for more information about the before and after school care facilities available to our school community or if you would like any further information about our student supervision arrangements.
