Learning Centre Three
The preps have been settling into school life and have been very busy making new friends and learning new skills. It has been a lot of fun getting to know them and watching their personalities blossom and shine in the learning spaces.
We had some special visitors join us for lunch last Tuesday; our Grade 5 buddies! It was lovely to watch the interactions between the older and younger students and listen to the conversations between them. Students enjoyed a shared lunch together and then practiced singing the school song. The preps and Grade 5’s are looking forward to coming together each fortnight to enjoy some activities together.
In Literacy, we have continued to read the stories The Monster’s Party, Pet Shop and The Hungry Giant’s Lunch. We have made jelly, visited the pets of OLSC and made pizzas, just like the characters in the different stories. We have also met some new friends from Milo’s Birthday Surprise: Sally the snake and Felix the frog.
In Maths, the preps have been exploring time. We have been ordering events that happen throughout the day and have been learning the days of the week.
In Religion, we have been learning about prayer. The preps have been learning to say the Hail Mary as part of their morning prayer and have begun thinking of symbols that they can include on their learning group's prayer mat. The students also participated in their first whole school mass with their Grade 5 buddies.
In Inquiry, students have been labelling different parts of the body. They also brought in photos of themselves as babies to share with their learning group. They then discussed how they have changed as they have grown.

- Names on items - please make sure that all of your child’s belongings have their name clearly on them so we can make sure that they get back to them.
