📚 Lost Books Appeal – Help Us Reunite Our Treasures!

As the year draws to a close, we find ourselves asking – where has the time gone? With the end of term fast approaching, it’s time for our annual call to action.

We kindly ask our school community to have a good rummage under beds, behind sofas and along bookshelves for any stray library books that may have been forgotten. If you spot a book with a school barcode, it belongs to us – and we would be delighted to welcome it back home.

Every returned book helps us prepare for a fresh and exciting year ahead.

Over the next two weeks, we will be sending home a list of overdue books currently linked to your child’s name. If you are unable to locate any of the listed books, please let us know by emailing us at library@moamagammar.nsw.edu.au.

Thank you for your continued support – and happy hunting!

Book Club Update

Last Friday, we distributed the Book Club orders that had arrived. We are still awaiting the delivery of a few remaining packages, which we hope to receive shortly. A big thank you to all families who made purchases from issue 7!

🌟 Club Highlights

Each of the following clubs has proven extremely popular this term:

  • LEGO Club: These sessions offer students the chance to design and build their own creations using LEGO bricks, fostering creativity, imagination and problem-solving skills.
  • Animal Time: This club encourages students to explore the animal kingdom through engaging arts and crafts, alongside a variety of fun and educational activities.

A special well done to our Year 4 Resource Centre Committee members, who have been delivering fantastic content each week. This initiative has allowed them to step into the role of teacher, and they have worked diligently to plan and prepare every session with care and enthusiasm

Illustrator Visit

On 21 November, we will be welcoming Chris Kennett to our school to spend time with students from Kindergarten to Year 6.

Chris Kennett, a UK-born illustrator, moved to Australia 20 years ago and now lives in Bendigo. Over the past two decades, he has worked on a wide range of projects, including (but not limited to) picture books, chapter books and graphic novels.

Some of his creations that we have in our library include:

  • School of Monsters by Sally Rippin
  • Mr. Luke Series by Luke Springer
  • Brunocorn by Rory H. Mather
  • Zooniverse by Nova Weetman
  • Cross Bones by Jack Henseleit
  • The Nerd Herd by Nathan Luff

We also recommend visiting his website – https://chriskennett.com/nerdherd – to explore the full range of projects he has worked on over the years.

We look forward to an engaging and inspiring experience for all.

Borrowing and Returns

Students may borrow and return books before school, recess, lunchtime and after school. Primary School students also have the chance to borrow books during their fortnightly Library lessons.

Borrowing Permissions

If students are requesting to borrow books above their age level, we request parents to write a letter regarding their permission for their child to borrow and read a specific book which will be reviewed by library staff.

Renewals

Students are able to re-borrow books for an additional two weeks by speaking to staff at the Library Circulation Desk. If further borrowing is requested after this, students are required to bring their book/s with them to allow the staff to see the book. In addition, students can renew their book/s by emailing the Library.

Requests

If your child would like to borrow a specific book and the title is not included in our current catalogue, we will add this to our purchase wishlist.

Overdue notices

If you receive an overdue notice, there is a chance that the books may have been processed through our system after the email was sent. We encourage all parents to follow up on any issues by emailing the Resource Centre at library@moamagrammar.nsw.edu.au

Reading Permissions

Due to our shared space catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 12, our library collection is organised to help students easily find books with protagonists close to their own age. For example, in the Upper Primary section, most of the characters are between 11 and 13 years old. This approach ensures that themes and content remain age-appropriate, and also supports students in reading independently and with confidence.

When deciding where books are placed within the collection, we are guided by author and publisher recommendations.

If you have any other enquiries, issues or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us via phone by ringing the main office or via email address at library@moamagrammar.nsw.edu.au

Keep reading everyone!

Kind regards,
