MAG Athletes Shine at Victorian All Schools Track & Field Championships

Moama Anglican Grammar athletes delivered two incredible weekends of performances at the Victorian All Schools Track and Field Championships, showcasing talent, determination and school spirit.

 

Tahlia Blight (Year 10) was a standout across both weekends. In Week 1, she claimed GOLD in the 400m and placed equal fourth in the 100m final — all within the same day.

She returned in Week 2 to secure a second GOLD in the 800m, leading from start to finish in a thrilling photo finish and achieving a personal best. Tahlia also competed in the 200m final, finishing eighth. Her outstanding results have earned her a place at the National All Schools Championships in Melbourne this December.

Remi Baulch (Year 12) also impressed, winning SILVER in the U18 2km steeplechase, securing her spot at Nationals alongside Tahlia.

Other MAG athletes who proudly represented the school included:

 

  • Sophie Jardine (U16) – Competed in the 100m, 90m hurdles, and 200m, achieving a personal best of 28.16s in the 200m.
  • Ivy Walker (U14) – Competed in the 100m and triple jump.

Skye Starritt Triumphs at Avenel Horse Trials

Congratulations to Skye Starritt (Year 7) on her outstanding achievement at the recent Avenel Horse Trials near Greenvale, Melbourne, where she won the EvA80 class in open competition against adults. She also claimed the Highest Placed Pony Championship in that class.

Skye and her pony, Silverdene Mini Eclipse, showcased exceptional horsemanship, focus, and determination throughout the event. Her success against a strong field of experienced riders is a testament to her dedication, skill, and commitment to her sport.

 

The school community and the Moama Anglican Grammar Equestrian Squad are incredibly proud of Skye’s accomplishment and look forward to seeing her continue to excel in future competitions.

MAG Equestrian Squad - Whittlesea Ag Show

The Moama Anglican Grammar Equestrian Squad proudly represented the school at the Whittlesea Agricultural Show Interschools Competition on Friday, 31 October. Riders competed in both showing and show jumping classes, demonstrating their skill, precision, and dedication across a range of levels. The competition featured entries from schools across the region, providing an excellent opportunity for the MAG riders to showcase their talent and hard work in a professional and encouraging environment, albeit in challenging weather conditions!

Throughout the day, the squad displayed excellent horsemanship, teamwork and sportsmanship, both in and out of the ring. Their commitment to preparation and calm approach under pressure led to several impressive performances and personal achievements. The students represented Moama Anglican Grammar with pride and should be congratulated for their efforts and growing success within the interschool equestrian community.

Luca Caniglia Makes a Golden Splash at National Swimming Championships

Luca Caniglia (Year 9) has made waves at the 2025 Long Course Country Championships in Darwin, winning four gold medals and setting four personal bests.

 

Competing in the 14-year-old boys age group from September 26 to October 1, Luca returned to the pool after a short break, swimming in eight events across breaststroke, butterfly, freestyle and individual medley.

His gold medal wins came in the 200m IM, 200m breaststroke, 100m breaststroke, and 50m breaststroke — all with new personal best times, including:

 

  • 50m breaststroke: 31.45s
  • 100m breaststroke: 1:09.21
  • 100m freestyle: 1:01.62 (PB set twice)

 

Now back in full training, Luca is preparing for the upcoming Mattioli Victorian Age Championships at MSAC Melbourne on December 10.

Year 4/5 Sport – Golf

Students in Years 4 and 5 have been enjoying their golf sessions this term as part of the 4/5 Sport program with Rich River golf professional Jayden Dixon. Throughout the program, Jayden has focused on developing a range of key golf skills, including chipping and putting, while also providing one-on-one feedback to each student to help refine their technique and build confidence.

The sessions have been a fun and engaging way for students to learn the fundamentals of the game and discover the enjoyment that golf can offer. Jayden’s goal is to inspire more young people to get involved in golf, and these lessons have been a fantastic introduction to the sport.

Years 6–8 Girls Sport – Volleyball

The Years 6–8 girls have been developing their volleyball skills this term through a combination of skill-based activities and gameplay. Students have focused on improving their serving, setting and spiking, while also learning to work together as a team.

A highlight of the program so far has been playing 4-way volleyball — a fun and energetic variation of the game that encourages teamwork, quick thinking and plenty of laughter. The group has also enjoyed friendly competitions to put their skills into practice, creating an exciting and engaging atmosphere on the court each week.

Advanced Dance Squad Shares Their Passion at Twin Rivers

Today, 11 students from our Advanced Dance Squad visited Twin Rivers Specialist School to teach a dance class to their primary school students.

It was a fantastic experience! The session went exceptionally well, with our students showing great leadership, enthusiasm and kindness as they shared their love of dance.

NETFIT NETBALL Day

On Thursday 13th November, our School Netball Team members and Netball Squad members will have the opportunity to meet and be coached by elite netballers while taking part in a full-day coaching clinic.

 

Two of the coaches attending are Kym Borger – former NSW Swifts and Melbourne Vixens Super Netball player, UK Team Bath professional, and international netballer – and Claudia Mawson – former student, Super Netball Reserves Vixens Academy member, and VNL Championship player with Melbourne University Lightning.
