Our Field of Poppies, installed under the College flagpoles on 11 November, reminds us of all those who have served, suffered or died in all wars and peacekeeping operations. The annual observance also acknowledges the service of Australian Defence Force members on active deployment. Thank you to Emma, Heidi, Oren and Lloyd for leading the College into a minute's silence with your special commemorative readings.
Thank-you to the extended Norwood community for knitting and crocheting so many poppies to make this display so special. Such a collective effort makes you proud to be a member of this community. Special thanks to Lisa-Jane Walmsley for organising and coordinating this effort. Our plan is to grow our field of poppies for Anzac Day next year. If you have the time and red wool to spare, we would welcome more contributions.

This week, we officially welcomed our newest Year 7 students and their families to our College. We look forward to getting to know them more on Orientation Day on Tuesday 9 December.
World Teachers' Day was celebrated this year in Victoria on Friday 31 October 2025. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our teachers and recognise the work that they do each day to support and inspire our students. I mentioned in the last newsletter that Norwood has once again been assessed as a High Performing School in Student Outcomes and Student Wellbeing. This is the direct result of the highly skilled, evidence-informed, committed work - day in and day out - by the teachers at Norwood.
From 1 January 2026, people aged under 18 can travel free on all Victorian public transport services using a new youth myki card. This includes trams, trains, buses and coach services.
To access free travel, they must tap the myki card on and off each time they travel. For areas that do not use myki cards, they must show their myki card to travel free.
More information about the youth myki card will be available later in Term 4, 2025 – refer to the myki types webpage on the Transport Victoria website.
For more information about other travel options to school, and support for eligible students, refer to the Travelling to school webpage on the Victorian Government website.
