Year 5 & 6

Around our level

Last week, the Year 5/6 students attended Oasis Camp in Mount Evelyn, enjoying a three-day program filled with a variety of outdoor and indoor activities. The camp provided students with opportunities to try new things, challenge themselves, and spend time together outside the classroom.

Students took part in a range of activities, including the giant wwing, flying fox, rock wall, archery, candle making, and time in the games room. Each activity offered something different, allowing all students to find something they enjoyed.

The giant swing was a popular choice, with many students stepping outside their comfort zones to give it a try. Some students chose to go as high as 20 metres in the air, demonstrating great courage and determination. The flying fox was another favourite, as students enjoyed the fast-paced experience of travelling across the camp. The rock wall encouraged persistence and problem-solving, with students supporting each other as they worked to reach the top.

Archery sessions gave students the chance to learn a new skill and practise their aim, while the games room provided a space to relax and enjoy time with friends. Candle making was a quieter activity that allowed students to be creative and take home something they had made themselves.

It was lovely to see all students participating with enthusiasm and encouraging one another throughout the camp. Many students showed resilience when faced with challenges and were willing to try activities that were new or unfamiliar.

Oasis Camp was a very successful and enjoyable experience, even with some rainy weather. Staff appreciated the opportunity to share this experience with the students, and it was a valuable time for building connections and creating lasting memories.

I really enjoyed the giant swing. I went 18m into the sky. It took a lot of attempts to pull the camp chord.
