Assistant Principal: Meriden James & Rhiana Macrae

End of Term Wishes

As we come to the end of a rewarding term, I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank our students, staff, and families for their ongoing support and commitment to our school community.

It has been wonderful to see the learning, growth, and enthusiasm across the school, and we are proud of all that has been achieved this term. Your support makes a significant difference, and we truly value the strong sense of community we share.

I wish all of our families a safe and restful break. May you enjoy some well-deserved time together, and I hope the holiday period brings relaxation, happiness, and special moments with loved ones.

Wishing everyone a very happy Easter.

Cross Country Event

Our recent Cross Country event at Lillydale Lake was a fantastic day for our school community, filled with energy, enthusiasm, and determination.

A sincere thank you to our PE teacher, Michaela Pagliaro, for her outstanding organisation and preparation in making the day such a success. Events like this require a great deal of planning, and we are very grateful for her dedication and effort behind the scenes.

We would also like to extend our thanks to our parent helpers, staff, and senior school students who supported our younger runners throughout the course. Your encouragement, guidance, and willingness to assist ensured that all students felt supported and safe on the day.

Congratulations to all of our students who participated. It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm, resilience, and persistence, with many students challenging themselves and showing great determination to complete their races.

Well done to everyone involved in making the day such a positive and memorable experience.

World’s Greatest Shave

Our school community came together in a wonderful way to support the World’s Greatest Shave and Crazy Hair Day, and we are incredibly proud of the spirit shown by everyone involved.

A special thank you to our Junior School Council (JSC), along with Grace Smith and Narelle Cooper, for their organisation and leadership in bringing this event to life.

We would also like to thank our students and staff for embracing the occasion with such enthusiasm, whether by participating in the shave, styling some very creative hair, or simply getting involved and showing their support.

Finally, we extend our sincere appreciation to our wider community for their generous donations to such an important cause. Your support of the Leukaemia Foundation will make a real difference.

We look forward to announcing the total amount raised early next term. Thank you again to everyone who contributed to the success of this special event.

Year 5/6 Camp

Our recent Camp Oasis experience was a wonderful highlight for our students, filled with fun, adventure, and many memorable moments. Throughout the camp, students had the opportunity to challenge themselves, try new activities, and build stronger friendships.

From engaging group activities to outdoor adventures, it was fantastic to see students step outside their comfort zones, demonstrate resilience, and fully embrace all that camp had to offer.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our staff and parent helpers who gave their time, energy, and care to ensure the camp was such a success. Your support played a vital role in creating a safe, positive, and enjoyable experience for all students.

A big congratulations to our students for the way they represented our school. Their enthusiasm, cooperation, and willingness to have a go made the camp a truly rewarding experience.

Camp Oasis was a fantastic opportunity for learning beyond the classroom, and one that we are sure will be remembered fondly by all who attended.

Protecting Against Measles

Measles cases are rising in Victoria and around the world. Returned travellers make up most cases, but local spread has also been detected.

Vaccination is the most safe and effective way to protect yourself and others against measles. People need 2 doses of a measles-containing vaccine to be fully protected.

To help protect against measles, you should check your family’s measles vaccinations today. This is particularly important if you are:

  • planning any travel

  • were born during or after 1966

  • were born overseas

You can check your measles vaccination records:

  • On your Medicare online account through MyGov or by contacting the Australian Immunisation Register on 1800 653 809.

  • On your personal health records, such as your childhood immunisation records.

  • By speaking to your GP or immunisation provider.

About Measles

Measles is a viral infection. It spreads easily from airborne droplets, such as from coughing or sneezing, and nose and throat secretions.

Symptoms may include:

  • Fever

  • Feeling tired or unwell

  • Cough or runny nose

  • Sore and red eyes (conjunctivitis)

  • Diarrhoea – especially in infants

This is usually followed by a red, blotchy, non-itchy rash that often starts on the face before spreading down the body.

Measles can cause serious illness and be life-threatening. People who are not fully immunised or have not had a previous measles infection are at increased risk.

Pregnant women, children aged under 5 years, and those with weakened immune systems are at increased risk of severe illness and complications.

If your child develops measles symptoms, you should:

  • Keep your child home from school and seek medical care and testing.

  • Call the health service and wear a face mask when travelling to and attending the health service.

  • Let our school know if your child has measles or is being tested for measles.

  • Keep your child at home until well and advised by a health professional.

Free Measles Vaccines

Anyone who does not have 2 doses of measles vaccine, or is unsure, can get a measles vaccine.

Free vaccines are available for:

  • Infants aged 12 months to 18 months.

  • Children and teenagers aged under 20 years.

  • Adult refugees and humanitarian entrants.

Free vaccines are also available for anyone with or without a Medicare card if they are:

  • Born during or after 1966 and who have not received 2 doses or are unsure, including people born overseas.

  • Infants from 6 months and before 11 months of age before overseas travel.

Vaccination is widely available at your GP, local pharmacist, and local council or Aboriginal Health Service. Call ahead to see if you are eligible for a free vaccine.

If your child has had new or catch-up vaccines, we encourage you to give our school an updated immunisation history statement.

Harmony Day

Harmony Week is a celebration that recognises Australia’s rich diversity and brings people together from all cultural backgrounds. It highlights the importance of inclusiveness, respect, and a sense of belonging for everyone.

Traditionally, this important occasion is celebrated across the country in March. However, due to other school events during this time, we have chosen to recognise Harmony Week at a later date, allowing our whole school community to come together and celebrate in a meaningful way.

Therefore, as a school community, we will celebrate Harmony Day during the first week of Term 2, on Tuesday, 21 April. Students will participate in a special activity within our school-wide Mateship groups. We also encourage all students to come to school wearing a touch of orange - such as a t-shirt, ribbon, or socks - to show their support.

Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF)

If you hold a current Health Care Card, you may be eligible for CSEF funding, which can be used for school excursions or camps. If your application is approved, you will receive $400.00 per child into your school account for you to use during your child’s schooling years.

Please click the button below for more information and/or to download the application form. Alternatively, you can visit the school office for a hard copy. All completed application forms should be submitted to the school office.
