YEAR 11 KEY INFORMATION: WEEK 6

Year 11 Students Leading the Way

It was fantastic to see so many Year 11 students volunteer their time at yesterday's College Open Evening as student ushers. Throughout the evening, our students welcomed families, guided tours, answered questions, and proudly showcased all that makes our St Mary's community special. We also had Year 11 students representing the College in the choir and assisting within subject areas across the evening.

Their willingness to volunteer their time and assist throughout the evening reflected the Year 11 theme of Leading the Way. Students represented themselves and the College exceptionally well, showing maturity, initiative, and pride in our community.

Relay for Life Team

This year, I have decided to coordinate the St Mary’s team for the Relay for Life event taking place in August. Relay for Life is an important community event that raises funds and awareness for cancer research and support services, and it is a cause that is very close to my heart.

As a cohort, we often speak about leadership as stepping up, getting involved, and contributing to something bigger than ourselves. Taking on the coordination of our team is one way I hope to model that message to our students.

The event will be open to senior students, and I am hopeful that many of our Year 11 students will consider joining the St Mary’s team. I will speak more about this during Community PG and seek expressions of interest in the coming weeks.
