A TERM FULL OF TABLE TENNIS & T-BALL…

This term has been so much fun! We’ve set up the gym like a table tennis stadium, equipped with our full-sized tournament table surrounded by loads of mini tables. We’ve all learnt how tricky the sport of table tennis can be, whether it’s serving or returning, that tiny ball can really have a mind of its own. To make things a little easier, we’ve gone back to our Pickle Ball roots just to remind ourselves how to hold the bat and where to position ourselves to best hit the ball. I have to say, there’s been no arguments about revisiting Pickle Ball as it’s definitely one of the most popular sports we’ve played.

The Preps have had a focus on kickball and t-ball, not only having the opportunity to improve their hand-eye coordination but understanding the concept of running to a base and fielding a ball to get a runner out. It’s been a fun and interesting couple of weeks with some big hitters and lots of reminders to run!!!!

All classes have started their health lessons with Preps-2 learning about healthy eating and healthy lifestyles. They have looked at The Guide to Healthy Eating (formerly known as the Healthy Food Pyramid) and what is in the 5 Food Groups. Grades 4-6 have started their unit on Positive Body Image with lesson one introducing what body image is and how we can show gratitude towards our own bodies with a real focus on what they CAN do, not what they CAN’T do. Hopefully the students will come home with questions or learnings from class and open some interesting conversations at home.

Thanks!
