VISUAL ART

Visual Arts with Vanessa – Term 3 Update

It’s been a wonderful start to the term getting to know all the creative minds at Lancefield Primary! As the new Visual Arts teacher, I’ve enjoyed setting up a refreshed learning space that encourages independence, experimentation, and hands-on discovery. In our first week together, students explored the new layout of the Art Room and shared their individual interests and skills in art through engaging warm-up activities and conversations.

As we move forward, students will be diving into a vibrant unit on collage, using a wide variety of materials and techniques. With the theme "Feathers, Fur, Fins or Scales," each year level will explore an animal of focus and create a unique collage artwork. Through this unit, students will develop their skills in colour blending, layering textures, and expressing personality through visual elements.

Following this, our next project will be a whole-school collaborative artwork to be entered into the Kyneton Show. Students will apply the collage techniques they've been developing to help create a large-scale piece that celebrates our school community. Inspired by photos of our school and its surroundings, students will work together to represent our environment using colour, shape, and texture, highlighting their individual contributions within a collective masterpiece.

I can’t wait to share their incredible artworks with you all soon.
