STEM

Well the year is flying and Term 3 is upon us already! Being a short term, we will be jam packing our STEM lessons full of learning and knowledge. This term has an applied Maths focus (the M in STEM) and we have started the term with some amazing activities.
Our senior students have begun to participate in what I call 'Earn and Learn' and is loosely based on a program written by maths teacher Rob Vingerhoets. This program invites students to participate in a classroom economy where they need to find an income source, pay expenses and learn about things like interest and savings.
Our junior students have been looking at maths in a slightly different way - through maps! From the work we have done over the past few weeks it is quite obvious that we have some budding cartographers in the school!
