Dear Families,

Welcome back to Term Four. I hope that you all had a wonderful holiday and are feeling rejuvenated for a busy term. Congratulations to all the Brisbane Lions and Sydney Roosters supporters. There were certainly a few close final games. We enjoyed a Footy Colours Day at the end of last term and thank our Year 5/6 students for leading the activities.

Thank you to all who donated football socks and boots which will be given to Aboriginal children at Murrupurtiyanuwu Catholic Primary School. Thank you to our FIRE Carrier Student Leaders and Seija O'Brien for coordinating this initiative. It is not too late to bring some old football boots to school.

Bunnings BBQ

We were fortunate enough to secure a BBQ at Bunnings Rosebud on  Saturday 17th October. These are always wonderful fundraisers and money raised in the past have gone towards playground equipment, nets at the top oval, digital technology devices and interschool sports uniforms. This year money raised will be put towards new classroom furniture.

Oaks Day

A highlight on the Term Four calendar is the Oaks Day celebration for ladies from our school and local community. The bookings are now open and tickets are selling fast. With limited tickets this year, please secure your booking early. Click on the link below to purchase tickets. If you are able to assist with sourcing and managing some auction items for Oaks Day, please contact Sophie on 0417 136 270 or sophie@whitetop.au

Building Project Update

Baxter Projects worked diligently throughout the school holidays in the Year 3/4 and 5/6 learning spaces with walls being added to create passage ways to the new multi-purpose space and outdoor learning area. We are most appreciative that the impact to students has been minimal.

Bushfire Preparedness

As the school is situated in a High Fire Danger area, we have prepared an Emergency Management Plan which details the required response to managing bushfire risk including closure on Catastrophic fire danger rating days. Families will be notified of this via nForma.

Mental Health and Wellbeing

Over the holidays we achieved recognition for our school’s Mental Health and Wellbeing initiatives from the Healthy Places, Healthy Future Program. It is a Victorian Government Program whose main goal is to integrate health, wellbeing, and learning into everyday school and early service life to help students thrive today and prevent chronic diseases later in life. Some of our initiatives that we feel contribute to our students overall mental health and wellbeing include: Let's Talk Program, Flow Friday activities, student led lunchtime activities, Creative Therapist and focus groups with Jenny.

Art Expo: Living and Creating By the Sea

We had originally advertised our Art Exhibition for next Thursday 15th October but due to the building works and feedback we have decided to change the date to the same evening as the Carols which is Wednesday 2nd December.
