Middle School Update

Year 9 students recently attended Camp Rumbug in Foster, set amongst the scenic rolling hills near Wilsons Promontory. All participants took part in the master’s program, alternating between a day of cabin accommodation with outdoor activities and a day of hiking with overnight tent camping. Students demonstrated remarkable resilience and teamwork throughout the experience. Everyone returned home safely, a little muddy and tired, but with fantastic stories to share.

While the Year 9s were away, Year 10 students engaged in a series of Pathways activities. The week kicked off with a City Discovery day, where staff accompanied students to Federation Square before setting them off on team challenges across the city. Teams then regrouped at the starting point for the announcement of the winners.

On Thursday, mock interview sessions coordinated by Ms Roberts, gave students the opportunity to interview with volunteers for simulated job roles, followed by personalised feedback on their performance and employability the next day. To wrap up the week, students travelled independently to Swinburne University to participate in tailored workshops based on their earlier Morrisby assessment data and career interviews.

To finish off the term, 16 students and 2 staff members departed for the Northern Territory. They will spend the week exploring the region from Alice Springs to Uluru before returning home to Melbourne.
