Teaching and Learning

As we begin another busy term, I wanted to take a moment to remind families of the importance of nightly reading. Reading regularly plays a vital role in developing students’ literacy skills, building vocabulary, strengthening comprehension and fostering a lifelong love of books.
Term 4 is also an important assessment period, as teachers gather information about each student’s progress and identify areas for further growth. Regular reading at home helps students practice and consolidate the skills they have been learning in the classroom, supporting their confidence and continued development as readers.
Reading together doesn’t need to be complicated or time-consuming. Just 10 minutes each night can make a real difference! Encourage your child to read aloud, ask questions about the text, discuss characters and events, and make connections to their own experiences. Even a simple conversation about what they have read can deepen their understanding and help them think more carefully about the text.
Thank you for your continued support in making reading a regular part of your child’s routine. Working together, we can help our students grow into confident, capable and enthusiastic readers.
